Good evening beauty lovers everywhere! Tonight's post will really be more of a general informative piece slash venting session. As you may or may not know, I am an active makeup artist living in Canada.
Yep! There I am.
Recently I have decided to make a change job-wise when I was given an ultimatum; to choose between my passion and my position. This is something I felt like I wanted to talk about because I'm sure this type of situation happens more often than we think; at times, maybe without us even knowing.
When you choose your career, you must first know if it is something you could see yourself doing for the rest of your life (or at least for a few years). Perhaps you will choose a job that you love; maybe you'll choose a job because you love the money it will bring. If it's the latter, it is important that you make sure you don't give up things that you love doing (hobbies and/or things that bring you general happiness). The true question we must ask ourselves is: what am I willing to give up?
Lucky for me, I found a job in my field right away and at first, things were great. I enjoyed the daily tasks given to me and I loved working with people who seemed genuinely happy to hear what I had to say. Things stayed like this for a few years up until recently. I won't go into details, but what I will say is that I ultimately had to choose between my job and the things I did in my free time. Fair? Not even close.
This brings me to the moral of the story. Never let someone tell you what you can or cannot do in your free time. No man, no woman, no boss. Do what YOU love; and do it for just that reason. Money certainly won't bring happiness and if that's the only thing that is binding you to your current job, take my advice; quit!
With that being said, I want to share with all of you some new and exciting things that will be happening at dearlady.org this summer!
I am very excited to begin working for me. I will be doing some freelance makeup applications for:

For right now, you can see some examples of my work in my online portfolio. Bear with me, as I am still currently updating photos. If you would like to contact me, you can do so via the "About Me" page on my website.
In closing, I want to leave you with this -
"My favourite things in life don't cost any money. It's really clear that the most precious resource we all have is time." - Steve Jobs
Please don't waste yours, my dears.
